Solengo takes Montalcino in an international direction, using Bordeaux varieties to make a structured red outside Brunello rules.
Solengo demonstrates how the same Tuscan estate can make two very different wines: traditional Sangiovese Brunello and a Cabernet-led international blend. The choice of varieties is part of its identity rather than a substitute for Brunello.
Argiano is one of Montalcino's historic estates, producing both Brunello and the Solengo red blend.
The estate's Tuscan hills give its Cabernet and Merlot ripeness alongside firm structure.
Grilled beef, braised lamb, wild mushroom pasta or aged cheeses.
Serve around 16–18°C; decant if the wine seems closed.
Solengo is not Brunello: its blend and style are deliberately different.
